Brief Biography:
Dr. Molly C. Driessen (she / her), PhD, MSW, LICSW (RI) / LCSW (CT), is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Providence College, her alma mater. Dr. Driessen formerly was an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Saint Joseph. She also was previously an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Departments of Social Work at St. Catherine University, the University of St. Thomas, and the University of Minnesota all in St. Paul, MN. Dr. Driessen has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate level courses in individual, family, group, and community practice, social welfare, policy, research, diversity, and special topics on interpersonal violence and trauma. Her research is focused on issues pertaining to intimate partner and sexual violence, specifically campus sexual assault, as well as issues related to resilience and trauma, broadly. Dr. Driessen has worked on several community-engaged research projects and interdisciplinary evaluation studies (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods) examining these topics, with a focus on qualitative methodologies. She has been awarded various grants and scholarships to fund her research projects, and has disseminated her work through peer-reviewed journal articles, national juried conference presentations, and invited presentations at community-based organizations and local and national settings. Dr. Driessen also maintains a part-time clinical practice and, like her research and teaching, has been engaged in micro-mezzo-macro practice roles (in Washington DC, MN, CT, and RI) with individuals, children and youth, families, communities, and systems on topics ranging from trauma to resilience, using relational, person-centered, intersectional, and trauma-informed approaches.
